Featured Artist – William Albanese Sr

I’d like to introduce you to an artist I came across recently on Fine Art America – William Albanese Sr.

I was introduced to Williams artwork through a contest I set up for other artists to show case paintings or drawings with the theme of “Fruit”. Williams artwork was voted 1st and 2nd place and I’m pleased to feature him here!

These two paintings tied for first place:

William Albanese Sr. has a BFA and Master’s Equivalent in art education from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Mr. Albanese taught in the Baltimore County School System for Thirty-one years. He is now living in Hanover, Pa., retired, and painting full-time. Mr. Albanese has exhibited in the Dead End Saloon (Fells Point Balto.), Worthington Gallery (Bulter Md.), Gallery Thirty (Gettysburg Pa.), Hanover Area Arts Guild (Hanover Pa.), and the York Art Association (York Pa.). Mr. Albanese is a member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA), and the International Guild of Realism (IGOR). He exhibits in both group and solo shows selling works through exhibits and private commissions. Mr. Albanese’s favorite artists are Frans Hals and Jan Vermeer. He prefers the Flemish Medium which enables him to use glazes similar to the old masters

* Best In Show Award (Fall Art Show at the Hanover Area Arts Guild 2007)

* First Place Award (He was awarded one of the five Rottler Awards for Excellence in the Visual Arts. The annual Selection Exhibit was held at the York Art Association 2007)
